Scorecard (Click to enlarge)
Par Mar is a 9-hole semi-private golf course and clubhouse facility
located between Parker and Marion, South Dakota at 45112 SD Highway 44.
The Golf Course
The Par Mar Valley golf course is of short to average length (2902 yards) on
approximately forty-seven acres of rolling ground with the west branch of the
Vermillion River and an unnamed creek intertwined with the golf course effecting
play on eight of the nine holes. The golf course features bent-grass greens
and blue-grass fairways and consists of three “par 3’s”, three “par 4’s” and
three “par 5’s”. Each hole has two tee-boxes of average size that are located
in a manner that puts a premium on the golfer’s drive while allowing for the
varied abilities of the golfer. The greens and generous fairways are irrigated
and well maintained. The greens are designed to reward good shots by holding
the golf ball while leaving a putt that will almost always have a challenging
break. The greens are of relatively large size and are mown closely enough to
allow for a smooth roll and average speed. Many trees populate the course and
add to the challenge of the game. Eight sand bunkers are strategically placed
throughout the course. The roughs are mown to a challenging height that makes
hitting the fairway and greens a premium. Golf course signage is adequate to
allow the golfer easy navigation throughout the course. Par Mar was re-rated
by the South Dakota Golf Association (SDGA) in August of 2001. Par is 35 and
the blue-tee course and slope ratings are 34.0 and 115 respectively and the
red-tee course and slope ratings are 34.6 and 111 respectively.
The Clubhouse
The clubhouse facility is a two-story structure with a bar and seating addition
off the main floor. The main floor consists of kitchen and bar facilities along
with table seating for approximately 48 and bar seating for 10. The Clubhouse
accommodates a full menu while the bar is fully stocked with wine, beer & spirits.
The second floor is carpeted and includes a hardwood dance floor. Large windows
provide a significant amount of natural light for the facility and allow full view
of the golf course from both levels of the clubhouse.
